For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and GDPR-relevant situations, GoTelugu.in acts as the controller of the personal data described in this Privacy Policy.

2. What Data We Collect and Why

We collect the following categories of data.

Account and authentication data: your email address, account identifiers, and related login metadata so we can send magic links, authenticate you, secure your account, and manage subscriptions.

Documents, text, and editor content: the text you type, paste, check, rewrite, translate, save, or share so we can provide the requested writing features and cloud storage.

Uploaded images and PDFs for OCR: files you submit for OCR and the extracted text so we can return editable Telugu text.

Voice input for voice typing: voice input you actively submit for speech-to-text conversion so we can transcribe Telugu speech into text.

Usage, analytics, and diagnostic data: browser and device information, pages viewed, interaction data, and product diagnostics so we can understand usage, improve performance, and prevent abuse.

Payment and subscription metadata: limited payment information such as subscription IDs, billing cycle, and payment status from payment processing records so we can activate and manage subscriptions.

Chrome extension data: text you actively select or submit on third-party pages when you use the extension so we can perform the requested grammar, rewrite, or related feature.

Our legal bases for processing may include performance of a contract, your consent, compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the service.

4. Data We Do Not Collect or Store

We want to be clear about what we do not keep.

Voice recordings are processed for transcription and discarded by us after processing unless you intentionally save the resulting text.
OCR uploads such as images and PDFs are processed and discarded after the OCR workflow unless you separately save resulting text into a document.
We do not store full card details, CVV, UPI PIN, or bank credentials.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

6. Chrome Extension Privacy

If you use the GoTelugu Chrome extension:

text is processed only when you actively use the extension feature
we use that text only to provide the requested writing assistance feature
we do not store text from third-party pages merely because you visited those pages
we do not collect browsing history for unrelated purposes

7. Data Retention

We keep data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer period is required by law.

Account data is generally retained until you delete your account, subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, and record-keeping requirements.

Free tier documents are not intended to be saved to cloud storage unless the product expressly enables such storage at the time of use.

Pro tier documents are retained until you delete them, request account deletion, or retention is no longer necessary for service or legal reasons.

Payment metadata may be retained for accounting, legal, tax, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution purposes.

8. User Rights under DPDPA 2023

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

access information about your personal data
request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
request erasure of personal data
withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
request grievance redressal
